Sow late winter to early spring at 18°C (65°F) 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in a good free draining seed compost, seal in a polythene bag after sowing and place in complete darkness until the seeds start to germinate. Germination usually takes 12-18 days although can be longer than this on some occasions.
Growing Info
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 1-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost 3cm (12in) apart in sun and ordinary well drained soil.
